This had to be one of the more interesting calls I have received. The monitor itself was upright, but everything it displayed and did was upside down.  Even the mouse moved the opposite way.  She was perplexed because one moment everything was normal as she worked. The next moment everything on her monitor had rotated 180 degrees, making it all upside down.  She couldn’t figure out what had happened to cause it.  She was just typing in an order when it flipped.

There are special combinations of keys that will rotate your screen. There is no prompt asking you if you are sure you want to do it. No warnings and no real way to know what you did when it happens.  I will add the caveat that these key strokes may not work on every single windows system. Some video cards have different commands programmed into them. So if it doesn’t work for you, google the video card make and model including something regarding “rotate display”.

To replicate or undo the screen rotation, simply hold down CTRL and ALT at the same time.  Then tap one of the arrow keys on your keyboard. Each key should change the orientation of the screen.
