Strategies for Warehouse and Labor Management System Integration

Many experts recommend integrating a LMS (Labor Management System) with a WMS (Warehouse Management System) in order to obtain optimal productivity and cost saving benefits. A solid connection between the two provides real-time analytical data to decision makers, allowing for the consistent evaluation of the costs and benefits of warehouse processes.

Additionally, LMS platforms can be incorporated with other systems to deliver a more streamlined process. Integration with time and attendance systems can provide a transparent view of each employee’s workday; while linking it with payroll systems can help companies create more of a ‘pay-for-performance’ culture.

When researching LMS systems it is important to look closely at the features and capabilities. It is important that you chose a platform that can be adapted to different systems to accommodate growth. Furthermore, web-based platforms may be a good option because their architecture allows for easier integration and deployment, and a lower total cost of ownership.

Once a system is selected and implemented, it is crucial that you get staff buy-in. Proper training and consistent communication can keep employees in the loop and up-to-date on the goals and benefits of the system. Further, it may be beneficial for you to come up with creative ways to encourage staff to utilize the system regularly. For example, having supervisors repeatedly view the system and report back to their managers is one way to increase system use and encourage an increased comfort level.
