Moving Forward with SYSPRO Avanti on Cloud and On-Premises … at the Same Time

Cloud services are becoming more and more popular and available as technology continues to improve. Earlier this year, Garner projected that the public cloud services market will grow 21.4 percent in 2018 for a total of $186.4 billion. Software as a service (SaaS) such as ERP platforms is the largest segment of that market, with a projected revenue of $73.6 billion.

SYSPRO has a piece of that pie with its cloud SaaS ERP, SYSPRO Avanti. Named for the Italian word that means “moving forward,” Avanti’s aptly chosen name describes exactly what this service is doing. In its latest release, SYSPRO has created an entirely new Avanti user experience. Through some interesting architectural legerdemain, SYSPRO was able to rebuild all its 1,500+ user modules into a modern, visually appealing user experience.

There are some advantages to running SYSPRO on premises, however. While the web-based version is simplified and engaging, removing the requirement for client installations, virtualization, or desktop emulation software, the rich on-premises user interface will data capture intensive users. This dual user interface approach affords customers the ability to transition between on-premise and cloud, selecting the best interface for the task.

Key Features of the New Avanti

Context awareness—Avanti is aware of where a user is within the application to provide a better user experience. For example, clicking on the job number provides options to jump to other screens with job-related information.

Industry-standard mobile interface—Avanti follows standard conventions for controls, such as a hamburger icon for the menu display, tiles, and slider controls for ranges. Following industry standards reduces user training.

Stateless application—This provides better performance over the internet, as the application connects from the browser only when it needs to retrieve or send data.

Enhanced compression—SYSPRO achieved a 96 percent compression ratio on packets between the browser and web server. Such high compression is important because it minimizes the data that has to be sent between the browser and server.

Customizable—The web UI is customizable for roles and workspaces. It can provide information and workflow when users need it, as they need it.

More Choice, More Flexibility

With choice and flexibility as the theme of SYSPRO’s latest upgrades, this user interface option should come as no surprise. It allows users to easily transition, creating significant opportunities for remote and external users to engage with SYSPRO from anywhere.
